Topic One

Welcome to Tech Theater.  The goal of this hands-on course is to introduce you to the many facets of the technical world of theater.  For every actor that is seen onstage, in tv or film there are countless people who work backstage and behind the scenes in the technical world as designers, craftspeople, technicians and more to support the onstage and on camera artist.

The depth into which you will delve into the different aspects of tech theater will be dependent upon your maturity, personal skill level, ability to concentrate, retain information, attention to detail and ability to work and learn with some independence.

Each unit below shares information in written form and may have links for you to view.  It is important that you familiarize yourself with the information before you apply it in a real-world application.  It is also important to review it before you are asked to demonstrate working knowledge.

SAFETY IS THE PRIORITY

The usage of power tools, ladders, construction and the dynamics of creating can be filled with inherent safety challenges.  Always keep your attention onto the work and tool you are using.  You will be working with partners.  Look out for each other. Do not allow yourself to do anything that you have not been trained to do.

With that said let's start with some reading.
