Technical Theater

This course introduces students to set construction, tool safety, the hanging and focusing lights, costuming, the usage of sound equipment, and systems for theater management. Working closely with the Riley Center's technical director and guest designers, students will also be introduced to a basic understanding of principles of scenic design, lighting design, sound design, and other technical aspects of the theatre.  Also this select group of technicians will develop the necessary skills to run all backstage operations for school and community productions. Additional requirements may include running crew for evening and weekend performances. Course enrollment is limited and is at the discretion of the instructor.

PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS A TECHNICAL CLASS AND ALL STUDENTS WILL BE ASKED TO PARTAKE IN RUNNING THE SHOWCASE UNLESS THEY ARE IN A PERFORMANCE CLASS DURING THE FALL AND SPRING SHOWCASE.

A weekend rehearsal may be deemed necessary as that date approaches.

This course fulfills the Arts and Tech requirement for graduation, and has limited enrollment.
