TOPIC FOUR- All About Film

Class Work:
We will explore the following concepts introduced in ALAB:

  • Acting Concepts Introduced

  • Shot List

  • Angles

  • Career Options

  • Auditions


Project Work: 
You will be assigned a scene partner and you will research a one page dramatic scene. You will rehearse on your own and when presenting your scene it must meet the following criteria:

  • Appropriate Blocking

  • Memorized

  • Appropriate Costuming

  • Appropriate Usage of Props

  • Full Character Analysis- written

  • Full Scene Breakdown-written

Assessment:
You will receive verbal, in the moment assessment from the instructor and peers, in addition to filling out a Peer/Self Assessment.

Reading Assignment:
By the end of the week, Friday beginning of class, please read pg. 117- 127 of GAT. Since the reading of ALAB is a review please focus on answering one of the following prompts from the GAT for a class presentation:

  • Who is Stella Adler? What is her background, her history?

  • Identify differences and similarities in her technique with both Stanislavski and Strasberg.

  • Why is understanding the circumstances of the play so important in her technique?

Oral Report Assessment
Your presentation will be in the manner of an oral report. We will discuss the style that it can be presented in. Also, you will need to present three additional sources for your research. Please review the Oral Report Rubric to understand what you will be assessed on. Your report can be no longer then five minutes.
